Proctors farm is a family farming business nestled in the beautiful Dales. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Hollydale we are ideally suited to producing quality grass and foraging grounds required to raise amazing animals in their natural environment.
Our animals are raised without the use of growth enhancers or other modern additives; in fact we only use fertilisers to ensure the long term enrichment of the soil helping to produce animals of fantastic quality- just the way nature intended.
Since arriving in Hollydale generations ago, our family had to develop new butchering skills to grow and produce our own stocks and ensure the premium quality we are now very well recognised and known for this.
We do not transport our live stock ensuring we are able to care for them all the way through. We are convinced that this one fact has impacted greatly on the quality our products more than anything else. On the farm, this move back to tried and trusted, old-fashioned methods of husbandry and breeds, with emphasis on stringent welfare codes of practice, has helped us to produce animals of absolute outstanding quality producing award winning results.
The Farm Shop and Cafe is the hub of the Estate and represents so much of the Estate’s holistic ethos. The sourcing policy is of the highest standard and starts with our own home grown produce. The lamb and beef comes from the Farm and the Head Butcher is in the enviable position of being able to talk with the farmer about how the animals are raised and the impact this has on the end results.
Our award winning beef and lamb is available on the butcher’s counter. This meat is perhaps one of our most sustainable food sources.
We buy our pork from Brecks Farm who farm their free range pigs only a few miles from us here at Proctors. The team cure cuts for bacon to our Proctors specific recipe, smoke some in the traditional way and leave the rest green. The team also make our famous Proctor sausages using seasonally fresh herbs grown on the Farm and don’t use any preservatives.
We support local suppliers whenever we are able and source only the very best produce for our store.
